SURVEY SHOWS
THAT PEOPLE STILL RELY UPON THE PAPERS FOR A NEW JOB, BUT THE INTERNET
IS NOW MORE INFLUENTIAL THAN A BEST FRIEND

Information
Nicholls Browning, the recruitment company
that has been providing jobs and HR solutions in Brentwood since
1971 surveyed 100 people and found that three quarters of people
still plan to use a newspaper to find out about vacancies when looking
for their next job. Nearly a third of people would rely on a friend's
recommendation of which agency to use, but more than a third would
use the Internet to find an agency.
The survey also showed that people
in Essex seem to be ahead of the national average when it comes to
getting wired up to the net; a staggering 70 per cent had Internet
access either at home or work.
Nicholls Browning MD said: 'Our survey
shows that people use a wide variety of methods to find out which
agencies to use, proving that we must make ourselves available to
them by an equally wide range of options. Our own Internet site at
www.nbhr.co.uk receives a huge number of hits from all over Essex
every day, but the tried and tested methods of newspaper advertising
appears to still be the favourite.'
The www.thisisessex.co.uk site
also received a welcome boost in the survey, nearly fifty per cent
of people had heard of the site, awareness figures that any website
would be proud of.
